About My Lifetime Care

Built by people who know UK care. Owned by a registered charity.

My Lifetime Care exists to do one thing: fund a parent’s care without the family having to sell the home. Everything in our governance, ownership and operating model is designed around that purpose.

Jeremy Nixey listening attentively in conversation, a bright British living room.
Why we exist

The problem we were built for.

The UK system funds care for families with low equity through council-administered support. Families above the means-test threshold are expected to fund their own care, with the home often the most visible asset on the balance sheet. The standard route is to sell the home, lose the inheritance, and have nothing left of what was the family’s biggest asset.

That route works for some families. For many others, it’s the option they take because they don’t know there’s an alternative. The Care and Home Inheritance Plan is that alternative.

Ownership and governance

Charity-owned. Solicitor-checked. Built to put families first.

My Lifetime Care Ltd is wholly owned by the registered charity My Respite Care (no. 1152941). The charity’s objects relate to the relief of need among older people. The governance structure is designed so that the charity’s purpose, and therefore the interests of the families the Plan serves, sit above commercial return.

Structural

Charity ownership

The parent charity’s constitution sets the purpose. Profits don’t leave the system as dividends to private shareholders; they support the charity’s objects.

Operational

Independent legal advice mandatory

Your solicitor acts for you, not for us. They review the Plan, explain it plainly, and only proceed when you’re fully informed. We contribute to reasonable solicitor fees.

Reporting

Annual written reports

Tenancy status, maintenance, running Plan position. You can request more detail any time. Your solicitor can request detail directly.

The founder

Built on three decades of UK care.

Jeremy Nixey, founder of My Lifetime Care.

Jeremy Nixey

Founder

Jeremy founded Shaw Healthcare in 1996, growing it into the UK’s largest staff-owned care company. He founded My Lifetime Care to address what he witnessed throughout those years: families with good homes and limited savings, forced to sell the property to fund care rather than pass it on.
