How we handle your personal data.
This page explains what personal data My Lifetime Care collects, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. If anything below is unclear, the Data Protection Officer’s contact details are at the bottom.
Who we are
My Lifetime Care Ltd is the data controller for personal data collected through this website and through our service. Our registered office is in Pontypool, South Wales. Our company number is 10340455. We are wholly owned by My Respite Care, a UK registered charity (no. 1152941).
What personal data we collect
We collect personal data in two main ways: information you give us directly (through the website forms, the Care Calculator, or by phone or email), and information that is generated when you use the site (web logs, anonymous analytics).
Specifically:
- When you contact us by phone: your name, phone number, and notes about your enquiry. We do not record calls.
- When you request a callback: first name, last name, phone number, optional email, preferred call time, and any details you choose to give about your situation.
- When you use the Care Calculator: your inputs (location, parent age, care setting, current costs, home value, expected duration) and your contact details if you choose to share them at the end.
- When you email us: the email itself and any attachments you send.
- Automatically: standard web-server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referrer), and anonymous analytics (page views, time on page, broad device type, broad country). We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Why we use your data, and our lawful basis
We process your personal data for the following purposes, with the lawful basis under UK GDPR set out for each:
- To respond to your enquiry: contract/pre-contract steps (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) where you are considering becoming a customer; legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) where you are an enquiry that doesn’t progress.
- To provide the Care and Home Inheritance Plan service to customer families: contract performance (Article 6(1)(b)).
- To maintain web logs and security: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) in keeping the site secure and operational.
- To comply with legal obligations: legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) where applicable.
We do not send marketing emails. We do not pass your data to advertising platforms.
Who we share your data with
We share personal data only where necessary and with appropriate safeguards. The recipients are:
- Our IT and hosting providers: the website and form submissions are hosted on UK servers under a written processor contract.
- Your independent solicitor: if your family proceeds to a Plan, the relevant details are shared with the solicitor your family has chosen so they can act for you.
- Professional advisers: our solicitors and accountants, where strictly necessary, under professional confidentiality.
- HM Revenue and Customs and other UK regulators: where legally required.
We do not transfer personal data outside the United Kingdom.
